Refurbished Carburettors

Carburettor

The basic process for our carburettors:

  • Complete strip down and chemical clean of the carburettor components.

  • The main alloy components are lightly abraded, with all flange faces machined and the main body re-bushed with any damaged threads heli-coiled.

  • The suction chambers are mirror polished and all the steel components are replated nickel and bright

  • New throttle shafts and discs are fitted. New main and flow jets are fitted along with a new metering needle. Numerous new small fix are also used.

  • They are supplied back tested, with mounting gaskets and a set up booklet.

What we do

In the last 25 years we have refurbished over 4500 SU carbs for customers all over the world. We have a vast knowledge of variations within the SU production range, adaptability of components and improvements to older SU carbs. SU carbs are the most popular product line we offer and we have rebuilt carburettors from a 1918 Napier through to the Montego Turbo. All the alloy bodied carbs we do are re-bushed, with the bronze bodied being done as they require (HV bronze carbs tend to wear much less). We stock a large amount of MG carbs for direct exchange, with a service time of approx two weeks for none stock (Note, we offer the quick turnaround service replacements to the trade only). We offer an extensive race prep service for SU carbs, with an increase of 1.5 to 2% power increase on MGB HS4 set ups (ref TPM rolling road data, stage 3/race). For very rare carbs we can even sleeve the carb body if needed.
