Our Story

My name is Edward Biddle and I’m the owner of EB Engineering. My working life started in 1981 when I began a five year Engineering Technician apprenticeship with the Rover Group at the Longbridge Plant. On completion I had achived a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical & Production Engineering and a wide work experience from my many placements within the company. I then started as a Junior Engineer within their Motorsport division and then moved to Process engineering SD3 where I progressed to senior engineer within the year.

In 1989 I moved to Special Processes Development and started work as a project Engineer within the Precision Metal Forming department. Here we developed high precision closed die warm forging techniques, cross rolling dies and a thin wall pressure castings process. During this time I gained my degree in applied automotive engineering from Warwick University and IMS certification.

When I left Longbridge in 1993 I was a Principle Engineer within New Process Development.

During my spare time I was always working on cars, motorbikes and machines in general, fixing friends cars etc. This passion continued and I started building axles, engines, and straight cut gearboxes for friends and then friends of friends.

Outside of my normal working week In 1988 I started British Suspension Services, suppling modified race components to the trade and public. Then in 1993 I took redundancy from the Rover group and ran BSS full time. We were based in Sparkbrook, Birmingham suppling gearboxes, dampers, callipers, diffs, stubs and axles to the motor trade, with the race suspension items slowly dropping from the inventory.

In 1995 we started to do SU carbs, Screen assemblies  & quarter lights for the trade only, and the company name was changed to EB Engineering to reflect the broader aspect of what we do.

In 1999 I sold the axles, callipers, stub axle and gearbox side of the business, and then moved from Birmingham to Malvern where we currently operate to this day.

We now supply refurbished and reconditioned components extensively to the classic car trade (75% of our business is still wholesale trade) with an extensive client list from all over the world including museums, heritage collections and motoring institutions. We have done work on MG, Healey, Alvis, Bentley & RR, Morgan, Volvo, Napier, Triumph, Riley, AC, Austin & Mini, Rover, Coventry Climax, Jag & SS, Morris and Wolsley to name a few.
